Food Chemistry and Aflatoxin Research Directorate conduct analysis on food chemistry, grain quality and aflatoxin and generate evidence base data basically on the magnitude of aflatoxin menace to inform food safety stakeholders, including policy makers, importance of the problem and strengthen efforts to mitigate it. Activities under this directorate include;

  • Aflatoxin Analysis for public, private or collaborative research: - Aflatoxin in produce / product destined for export and national use.
  • Chemical Analysis for public, private or collaborative research: - Free fatty acid, oil content, soluble and insoluble impurities, moisture content in product/ produce destined for export and national use
  • Grain Quality analysis for public, private or collaborative research:- basically physical analysis
  • Analysis of pro-vitamin A content in biofortified crops using ichecks
